These donations then are categorize, which took approximately 2 hours for every 3 days from December 2 – 4, 2015 before we donated it to them during our Christmas celebration on December 7, 2015.

I supposedly donated 2 L of oils but instead I donated 4 L. I also donated story books, novel, papers, stationeries, bag and all goods/ commodities that are written in the list. Basically I donated everything from grade 6 to 12 lists. I felt good in giving those items that I can share with them if it would make them happy, it would make me happy as well.

The main objectives that we would like to achieve are:

 (1)  To develop efficient work methods

 (2)  To avoid shutting it off our humanity of helping those in need
 (3)  To inspire those who feel useless because of their disabilities

 (4)  strengthen the links between the affordable one with those in need

 (5)  Promote a positive image of those who have disability

Learning outcomes:

  • Increased your awareness of your own strengths and areas for growth
  • Undertaken new challenges
  • Planned and initiated activities
  • Worked collaboratively with others
  • Shown perseverance and commitment in your activities
  • Developed new skills

Preparing the Christmas celebration sure needs a lot of efforts because we need to organize from the games to the performance. We need to involve all the students to participate in these activities. Also making the event we really do need our teachers help. We couldn’t done it without our teachers who always been there when we need them. We divided our task. Grade 11 and 12 are in charge in the game division and the donation.

3 days before Christmas Celebration, we work together hand in hand and divided each tasks. We divided our tasks with our friends in wrapping the gifts for the disabled children, categorizing things (tea with tea, sugar with sugar etc), categorizing the unwanted clothes according to their gender and age and put it into specified box, putting different kind of goods in a plastic for 200 people and the last but not the least is preparing the things for the games.

Everything went according to our plan. We couldn’t have done it without an effective collaboration, and a pure heart of the willingness to help those people out there who are in need. I was very proud of the students in my school who donated a lot from shelters to clothing. Everyone worked collaboratively and took accountability in their roles. I hope through this service we had actually helped to ease their economic problems and pushing the children to have a greater dreams as well as pursuing them. Never stop hoping and believing. Have faith in it.

The event was so exhausting but fun. It was a whole new stressing joyful experience. I have learnt to have more faith in me and never stop believing in yourself no matter what happens even though people keep on pulling you down, fight for it. If disabled children can do an incredible thing such as talents to play music instruments, we should be better than them because we have everything we need.

First Official publication of BTB School

Official publication of BTB School

Cover page
Different schools will have their own school year book containing all the events that happened during the one whole year in school that includes Bina Tunas Bangsa School. School year book is one of our best memories that last in schools. This year of 2015, I am chosen to be the layout artist for the spotlight, school year leaflets. Our school changed the setting of designing the school year magazine to a leaflet. Spotlight will be designed every quarter. We divided our tasks with 6, 7 and 12 grade. They are the members of the journalisms club in our school. This task is being conducted by Mr. Edison and Ms. Chrissie. They are the one who is guiding us what to do and to improve our skills as well as our knowledge.

Ms. Chrissie pointed me to play an important role of designing the layout of the spotlight to the person in charge of the spotlight, Mr. Edison. I was known to be a good designer that teachers can handle to. I was given the opportunity to develop more skills and this could give me experiences when I enter university. I will know what to do and would be easier for me to catch up with the lessons.

I was being offered 4 days before I met Mr. Edison to have a discussion. On October 30th 2015 I was called to meet up to talk about things and give the files that I should put in the spotlight that I will do during weekend. I got only 2 days to complete the task that is given by him because by Tuesday the spotlight should be submitted to the head. By Monday I submitted and by the end of the day, he will give me the correction I need to revise and make some changes.  Its more than 3 times that I make changes to the spotlight. It sure is a tiring task to do. One change will affect everything.

The main objectives that we would like to achieve are:

(1)   To let the students get the opportunity to show the world their talents are

(2)   Appreciate the important role of teachers on the journey of their learning

(3)  To let the students experience what is it like to work with someone and be cooperative

Learning outcomes:

  • Increased your awareness of your own strengths and areas for growth
  • Undertaken new challenges
  • Planned and initiated activities
  • Worked collaboratively with others
  • Shown perseverance and commitment in your activities
  • Developed new skills

Working with the spotlight really needs a talent to accomplish it. I got the offer and at the same time I got to be promoted. The risk that we must take is to accept whatever criticisms you got. Don’t mind how people will look at you and judge you. If you have just been assigned to do a task, take the time to listen to others in the people who would try to give suggestion and advice. Be involved in the process, as there will be a process that sorts out responsibilities and leadership roles (whether official or not), but open your mind and realize teamwork takes patience, understanding, and mutual respect and support. This is where I started to learn to be patience and open-minded to be successful.

The spotlight was a successful because it was accepted and the heads were satisfied with the real outcome. However, I never thought that there were students who were involved in criticizing my work.

Back cover page
Gladly, the spotlight outcome satisfied everyone and most especially to the eyes of teachers and the head. It was published on 19th November 2015. I am thankful that they appreciated my work. Putting faith, trust and believe in me is not something that everyone could achieve easily.

This task is one of the meaningful one for me where I can feel I am wanted and they and putting trust in me. It is an interesting thing to do where I can work collaboratively with the teachers ahead of me. They gave me some tips in working with the leaflets such as the arrangement of the pictures. This task has taught me a lot of things such as working collaboratively with the higher position on how to be more open-minded and responsive. I admit it was a demanding task but at the same time I enjoyed learning new concepts. It is often a team victory we rejoice in and remember above all others. The team environment can be very rewarding and a team’s success does depend on you, the individual. Your commitment to your team, despite obstacles, is vital to its success.
